Our story is not unlike many other startups. A tech guy and a marketing guy met over a beer at a tech
meetup in NYC. The marketing guy had an idea and the tech guy said "Cool I can build that."
The tech guy, agreed to join the team in the face of other more traditional startup offers, because like
the marketing guy, he gives a damn about the planet. The marketing guy is still grateful to him for this.
Before we continue the story, a bit about that idea. The idea was inspired by a single statistic:
66% of the U.S. population wants to live greener but doesn't fulfill on that intent. Both guys, tech
and marketing view this as missed opportunity, potential energy even. They looked for a way to convert all
that unutilized intent into positive, environmental action. Neither guys thought it was terribly easy to be
green, so they decided to design an easy and advantageous way for both individuals and business to support the
environment and get something of relevant, economic value in return.
So the guys worked nights and weekends to build The Mutual. They bumped heads on UX, copy and design,
but that's because one is tech guy and the other marketing. Luckily they enjoy a good debate and it's helped
them create a cooler product for you.
Dan the marketing guy and Matt the tech guy now oversee The Mutual. They want nothing more than for The Mutual
to be a big hit, because it will mean that they brought a lot of people together to create a lot of good.
It will also mean that their crazy, little idea to create a better kind of business worked.
